Andrea Chacón Calderón earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Costa Rica in 2018. In 2023, she completed the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Functionalized Advanced Materials and Engineering (FAME+), receiving a MSc in Chemistry from the University of Aveiro and a MSc in Materials Science and Engineering from Grenoble INP. She is currently a PhD student in Chemistry at the University of Aveiro, focusing on the design of amyloid-based catalysts for CO2 capture and conversion. Her research background includes an internship at the MiNT laboratory (University of Angers, France), where she worked on microfluidic drug delivery systems, and her MSc thesis with Team Specko (University of Aveiro), exploring how antimicrobial peptides interact with membrane models. Before her graduate studies, Andrea worked at the National Nanotechnology Laboratory (LANOTEC) in Costa Rica and as a research assistant in analytical chemistry at the National Center for Food Science and Technology, where her work led to two open-access publications. She has taken part in various scientific schools (XV Manuel Rico NMR summer school, Spain 2023; PANACEA ssNMR summer school, Italy 2024; 3rd Pepper School, Portugal 2024), international collaborations and has mentored two undergraduate thesis projects.
