[SUMMARY] I am the principal responsible for the "Membrane Biophysics junior research group" in the Martin Luther University Halle Wittenberg, Germany. My research interests are the physics of soft matter and Biophysics, with a strong focus on lipid membrane systems. The research is typically done by combination of solid-state NMR spectroscopy and Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations. These techniques are fully complementary since the experimental observables measured can be calculated from the simulations. Such combination enables to emulate a molecular microscope for soft matter systems that are otherwise inaccessible with Cryo-Electron Microscopy and X-ray Crystallography due to their size and intrinsic disorder. Prominent examples are liquid-crystal-forming molecules, lipid self-assembly systems, membrane proteins and associations between these. I have been contributing with novel NMR methodologies that enable improving the structural/dynamical characterisation of these systems, both in precision and applicability. [NMRLIPIDS] I have been also responsible for contributions that enabled progress in the field of computational chemistry. These contributions have been made accessible by using open data policies. In this context, I am a member of the collaborative platform NMRlipids that brings a community of more than 60 researchers from different countries to work together combining MD simulations and experimental data. In the NMRlipids project I have been the main responsible for the NMR experiments published. [SCIENTIFIC OUTPUT] 20 peer-reviewed articles in high quality journals (e.g. PNAS, JACS, PCCP, Langmuir, JCP and Sci. Rep.) for which I am the corresponding author of 11 publications, with a total of 581 citations and a h-index of 13 (source: google scholar, 3-October-2023). [GRANTS AND CONTRACTS] 4-year Portuguese FCT fellowship for international PhD studies (University of Lund, Sweden); a 2-year "Eigene Stelle" grant as temporary principal investigator awarded by the "Deutsche Forschungsgemneinschaft" (DFG), the main German Research Foundation; a 6-year Junior Research Group Leader position funded by the state of Saxony Anhalt to start my own research group in the Martin-Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU), Germany; and a 4-year DFG grant (SFB project) as a member PI of a collaborative research center. [TEACHING ACTIVITIES] I am responsible for many teaching activities in the MLU, including half of the semester course "Soft and Condensed Matter" (since 2022) and half of the semester course "Introduction to NMR Spectroscopy" (since 2020) for the Physics and Medical Physics students, as well as the supervision of 1 Bachelor, 4 Master and 2 PhD students. [ORAL PRESENTATIONS] A number of invited lectures/presentations in important events, e.g. 45th Mitteldeutsches Resonanztreffen 2020, NMRlipids summer school 2022, 5th G-NMR school 2023, and ACS National Meeting 2023 (to be held); and accepted oral presentations e.g. in the German Biophysical Society Meeting, the FGMR Annual Discussion Meeting, or the Alpine Conference on solid-state NMR (Chamonix, France).
