I am a W3 Full Professor at the University Hospital in Tübingen, where I lead the Advanced Metabolic Imaging and Cell Engineering (AMICI) team. I have supervised, trained, and mentored several high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. To date, my scientific work has resulted in 48 publications in international journals and several prestigious awards. My research group focuses on understanding the physicochemical, biochemical, and biological properties of the next generation of non-invasive metabolic sensors for applications in translational biomedical and clinical sciences. We aim to translate new technologies for in vivo use and validate imaging biomarkers relevant to severe metabolic diseases such as cancer senescence, diabetes, neurodegeneration, cirrhosis, inflammation, and kidney failure. Our laboratory's multidisciplinary research combines advanced multimodal, multiparametric, and state-of-the-art hybrid imaging techniques, enabling accurate disease detection and the prediction of responses to personalized therapies. Our research topics include: 1. Multimodal/Hybrid Imaging of the microenvironment and immunotherapy 2. Hyperpolarized metabolism and (metal)omics 3. Functional quantitative imaging (next generation of imaging agents) 4. Metabolic profiling and aggressiveness
