I graduated in Biology with specialization in Cellular Biology and Biotechnology (14/20) in 2017 at Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL). During my bachelor's degree, I joined the Plant Biotechnology Centre (CVB-CESAM) at FCUL as an undergraduate trainee. After graduation, I was awarded two research fellowships at CBV-CESAM, under the scope of PDR 2020 funding projects (MACFERTIQUAL and SafeApple), where I remained as a research fellow until 2019. In 2018, I started my master's degree in Biotechnology for Sustainability (18/20) at ITQB NOVA, and for my master's dissertation, I worked at the Microbial and Enzyme Technology (MET Lab) group under the supervision of Professor Lígia O. Martins on the engineering of a Dye-decolorizing peroxidase, BsDyP, a bacterial peroxidase capable of oxidizing lignin-related compounds, that can be applied in lignocellulose biorefineries. The results obtained throughout this period were published in a paper (Rodrigues*, Borges*, et al, 2021, IJMS, *first equal author). After finishing my master's degree, I was awarded a research fellowship at MET Lab, within the EU-funded SMARTBOX project (Selective Modifications of Aromatics through Biocatalytic Oxidations). In 2022, I started my PhD in Molecular Biosciences (ITQB NOVA) fellowship, which will focus on the evolution and biochemical characterization of BsDyP and its improvement towards biotechnological applications. I have 2 research publications, 1 review publication, and 7 poster communications in national or international congresses. I have been involved in the co-supervision of undergraduate students in their final bachelor's degree project. I have been actively involved in several outreach activities such as the European Night of Researchers and ITQB Open Day.
