My academic background is situated at the intersection of Industrial Engineering and Management. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Management (2008), a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering (2013), and a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering (2018) from the University of Minho. The foundation of my research interest in the field of sustainability traces back to my final course project at the university. There, I undertook a study on environmental impact assessment in a textile industry company. This experience ignited my research interest, leading to continued investigations into sustainability. This thematic area not only shaped the core of my master's thesis but also served as the focal point for my doctoral dissertation. In terms of my professional journey, I launched my teaching career in primary education schools before transitioning to higher education. It has prepared me with a comprehensive perspective combining academic expertise in my academic and scientific career, where I have conducted research in four main domains: sustainability, logistics, social innovation, and project management. The overarching goal in each of these areas is to formulate frameworks, methodologies, and tools designed to assist companies, particularly SMEs, in enhancing their performance. Additionally, my research endeavors aim to aid companies in minimizing their environmental and social impacts. Over the years, I have amassed a wealth of experience in various management roles within academia, with a predominant focus on overseeing Bachelor's and Master's degree programs. Presently, I hold the position of Director for the Bachelor's in Logistics and Industrial Management course, as well as the Master's in Project Management. These roles have played a significant role in fostering the professional growth of numerous individuals. In my work as a supervisor for numerous Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD theses, I have actively contributed to the career development of aspiring researchers. Additionally, I have been actively involved in serving as an external examiner for PhD and MSc assessments in numerous national and international universities. Despite being a junior researcher, I have been committed to making notable contributions to the scientific community throughout my career. These contributions include: Organizing international conferences and serving on scientific committees for various conferences; Engaging in peer-review activities for international journals; Acting as an associate editor for peer-reviewed journals; Participating in both national and international projects funded by public institutions; Taking part in Erasmus mobilities across Europe, broadening my exposure to diverse research environments; Contributing to research initiatives and generating scientific output for the benefit of the community. Regarding my contribution to society, there are several aspects to highlight. The research conducted in the industrial sector has played a crucial role in drawing attention to small companies, aiding them in comprehending their environmental and social impacts. This is particularly evident in my research within the mining sector. The frameworks and tools developed have been utilized by companies as initial steps in assessing their impacts and formulating strategies to mitigate the negative ones. The projects I have engaged in span a spectrum from social innovation involving local communities to a technological level, collaborating with international organizations. Each of these projects has been centered on addressing environmental, social, and economic aspects, emphasizing a holistic approach to sustainability. Throughout my academic career, I have contributed to scientific production in various ways, including 16 papers published in international scientific journals; 26 presentations at Scientific conferences.
