I am a Cognitive Neuroscientist and Speech and Language Pathologist, specialized in Clinical Linguistics. I conduct research to understand the nature of impairments that lead to specific language symptoms in individuals with post-stroke aphasia and dementia. Furthermore, I study predictors and mechanisms of response to interventions in this population, including behavioral therapies and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS). I conduct similar studies with healthy individuals, to understand the cognitive mechanisms that lead to practice effects, with the goal of translating this knowledge into the development of novel therapy programs. My research has led to ten articles in indexed journals, of which I first-authored 3 (one in Cortex), one book chapter, one published therapy programme, and 12 conference proceedings. Currently, I have three other first-authored articles submitted for publication, based on the work developed in the last year at Hopkins, and two another under preparation. I have given over 30 presentations in front of specialized audiences on matters related to my research.
