Andreia S. Azevedo completed her PhD degree in June 2016 at Chemical and Biological Engineering from Faculty of Engineering (FEUP), University of Porto, in collaboration with the Nucleic Acid Center, Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy, University of Southern Denmark (NAC, SDU). After her PhD, Andreia S. Azevedo was a fellowship researcher (from September 2016 to April 2017) in an FCT-funded project entitled by "Coded-FISH - Development of a novel colour-coded RING FISH method: an innovative tool for the detection of antibiotic resistant clinical pathogens" (POCI-01-0145-FEDER-016678). After holding a Post-doctoral position at FEUP in April 2017 (FCT-funded grant-SFRH/BPD/121601/2016), Andreia S. Azevedo started to work as a junior researcher and as a principal investigator for one FCT-funded project entitled by "Development of NAM-CLASI-FIVH method: a new in vivo tool for an accurate analysis of diversity and spatial organization of gastric microbiota"(POCI-01-0145-FEDER-030431), at FEUP in January 2019. In this project the principal aim is to combine the FIVH using NAMs probes in order to create a more straightforward procedure to study the composition and spatial organization of the microbiota directly in the stomach. In future, the application of the method together with sotisfied equipments (e.g. confocal laser endomicroscopy) will then be useful to track over time the microbiota and biofilms behavior. During his research career, Andreia S. Azevedo has authored/co-authored 22 papers in high quality peer-reviewed journals (2 as a senior and 2 as a corresponding author), 7 book chapters (of these, 4 as a senior/corresponding author), 16 oral communications in national/international scientific meetings. She also given 3 invited oral presentations in national workshops. Andreia S. Azevedo is supervising/co-supervising several Master students, researchers and 1 PhD student. My work has been cited nearly 675 times and I have an h-index of 14 (Source: Google Scholar, January 2024).
