Diana Adão (DA) holds a degree in Biology and a MSc. degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics, having developed her MSc. thesis at Laboratório de Citogenética e Genómica of Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Coimbra, studying Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia's genomic characterization. Subsequently, DA has concluded a post-graduation in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at Faculdade de Farmácia da Universidade de Coimbra, due to her interest in Biotechnology applied to studying human health. In terms of professional experience, DA has worked as a laboratory technician for a year and a half at the Coimbra Institute for Clinical and Biomedical Research, performing laboratory management tasks and assistance to some scientific experiments. During that time, Diana has also worked as a diagnosis technician volunteer at the COVID-19 Diagnosis Task force at Laboratório de Análises Clínicas of the University of Coimbra. More recently, Diana has integrated the Molecular Therapy for Brain Disorders Group at Centre for Neuroscience and Cell Biology, as a Research Trainee. There, Diana is focussed on studying Machado Joseph-disease(MJD) derived Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells(iPSCs) as a promissing strategy for developing in vitro MJD models, with the prospect of developing an High-Throughput Screening iPSC based platform for drug screening of putative therapeutical compounds for MJD.
