José Abreu is a marine ecologist, currently at PhD, that focus his research on the Southern Ocean, particularly interested in ecological dynamics (mainly predator-prey interactions), ecosystem and fisheries management, and their impacts in species ecology. José made is BSc in Biology at the University of Aveiro and his MSc in ecology at the University of Coimbra and MARE - Marine and Environmental Science Centre. He also worked as a visitor scientist at British Antarctic Survey, UK, for several times, resulted of ongoing cooperation. Besides his academic career, José believes that science communication is an important tool to raise the awareness of the general public and younger generations to environmental issues. For that reason, he is highly enrolled in the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) being the APECS Portugal President, and holds several talks, stands and activities in Education & Outreach activities throughout Portugal.
