Dr. Moreno-Arribas has been linked to CSIC since 1994, first at the Instituto de Fermentaciones Industriales (IFI), later re-structured in 2010 at the CIAL (joint institute CSIC-UAM). She completed her training with stays at the Centro di Ricerca per l’Enologia-Asti (Italy) and the Universities of Tucuman (Argentina), Bordeaux (France) and Stellenbosch (South Africa). She leads the group of Wine Applied Biotechnology (around 15 researchers and technicians) at CIAL-CSIC in Madrid. Her research focused initially on the first studies on the autolysis of yeast as an oenological process, and then in the Marie Curie postdoctoral phase, she was focused on lactic acid bacteria biotechnology and genomics, which subsequently allowed her to start the research related to food safety and search for alternatives to conventional antimicrobials. In collaboration with different companies, she industrially applied new antimicrobials based on natural products and biocompatible nanomaterials. Over the last 13 years, her research was focused on the study of the influence of diet on the oral and intestinal microbiota and its genome (microbiome), considering the human interindividual variability, the metabolic functionality of the microbiota, the understanding of the molecular interactions between the microbiota and the host, and the health impact of these interactions on digestive and brain function. Also, she was part of the management committee of large consortia and interventional studies on the connections between diet and health, and has been one of the promoters of the development of gastrointestinal tract models, such as the simgi®, in our country. She has participated uninterruptedly in research projects at the National, European and Bilateral level, as well as in private contracts with the industry since the beginning of her research career. Overall, she has been the Principal Investigator in more than 50 national and international research projects and contracts with the private sector. Actually, she is involved in four EU projects, AnnualFoodAgenda, ConsumerTrust, CliMB-OUT and PlasticFate. Other indicators are the 25 R&D contracts signed with different national and international companies. She has published more than 180 SCI peer reviewer papers, editor of 6 international books and author of 5 patents. Over the years, she have supervised 14 Ph.D. students and 2 in process and 10 postdocs have been supervised. She has participated in more tan 200 communications to national and international congresses, and has been invited to 60 lectures. Examiner of 30 Ph.D. Theses (in Spanish and foreign universities).
