Adelaide Sousa is a PhD Researcher specializing in Pharmaceutical Sciences. She recently completed her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, with a focus on Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto, in 2024. This achievement was part of a FCT-funded fellowship under the International Year of the Periodic Table initiative. Prior to this, she earned her Master’s degree in Quality Control, specializing in Drugs and Medicinal Plants, also from the Faculty of Pharmacy, in 2019. Adelaide completed her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, in 2017. Her research contributions are extensive, with 14 peer-reviewed journal articles published, 2 book chapters authored, and 1 commentary. Her work has garnered over 170 citations and an h-index of 6 (Scopus). Adelaide has actively engaged in the dissemination of scientific knowledge, presenting 11 oral communications and 20 posters at both national and international conferences. Furthermore, she has contributed to 3 research projects funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and supervised 4 students at both the Bachelor's and Master's levels. Some of the current research interests include natural products, medicinal chemistry, diabetes mellitus, inflammation and nanotechnology. Her expertise encompasses advanced techniques such as flow cytometry, ELISA, enzymatic assays, cell culture and microscopy.
