João Paulo Mateus Pedro

João Paulo Pedro is a collaborating researcher and grant holder at TECHN&ART - Center for Technology, Restoration Art Enhancement at the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar and a doctoral student at the University of Coimbra. His research interests relate to public history and the critical analysis of heritage and mnemonic constructions. In his doctoral research he focuses on the cultural imaginaries of the Revolution of April 25, 1974 and its place in the contemporary the public sphere, particularly in places of memory and the history of exhibitions. For his master's thesis he developed an analysis of the construction of cultural and political memory of the 20th century in Hungary and Portugal, looking particularly at the role of museum spaces. He has also developed research regarding tools and strategies for heritage interpretation, namely the potential of gamification as a history/heritage education tool.
