Ana Rita Ribeiro Santos completed her Bachelor's degree in Biology at the University of Aveiro in July 2021 with a final classification of 15 (out of 20). Following this, she continued her studies at the same institution, completing her Master's Degree in Ecotoxicology and Risk Analysis in December 2023, with a final grade of 18 (out of 20). During her academic journey, Ana Rita actively engaged in scientific events and dedicated herself to the fields of ecology and ecotoxicology. Her Bachelor's project investigated the ecotoxicological and biochemical impacts of microplastics on Lemna minor, enhancing her skills in experimental design, organism culture maintenance, ecotoxicological assessment, biochemical analysis, and data interpretation. For her Master's Dissertation, Ana Rita explored the combined impacts of metals and nanoparticles of polyhydroxybutyrate on Hydra viridissima, furthering her knowledge of mixture toxicology and improving her scientific writing skills. Ana Rita has authored two articles and co-authored one, all published in journals with high impact factors (IF > 9.8) and presented her findings at the 2023 SETAC Europe 33rd Annual Meeting through both a poster and an oral communication. Furthermore, her research has been highlighted twice in the UAveiro Research Newsletter, acknowledging her academic achievements. In addition to her research, Ana Rita has been involved in mentoring first-year students, volunteering with the Erasmus Student Network organization, and working as a service provider for the University's academic management services. Currently, Ana Rita's research interests focus on investigating the ecological implications of emerging materials in consumer products, particularly their interactions with aquatic organisms. She aims to contribute to sustainable alternatives and risk reduction strategies for freshwater ecosystems while promoting scientific understanding and sustainable manufacturing practices for a more environmentally conscious society.
