I hold a degree (2005) and a Master’s (2010) in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, and a PhD in Agrarian Sciences, specialization in Food Technology (2020) from the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, UAc. I also hold a Sports Dance Coach certificate from the Portuguese Sports Institute. The work in my MSc degree thesis was foundational in highlighting the unique bioactive properties of Azorean honey and contributed to the development of analytical methodologies still used in current research. In my PhD research, I studied lactic acid bacteria (LAB) from a traditional Azorean cheese. This research led to the development of new methodologies for testing the technological, safety and immune properties of LAB, which are now part of ongoing studies in the development of value-added products with probiotic and health-promoting properties. I also contributed to an online database by registering sequences in GenBank (NCBI). Since 2019, as a Postdoctoral researcher at the Biotechnology Centre of the Azores (CBA), I have focused on preserving traditional Azorean grapevine germplasm using cutting-edge biotechnological techniques. These efforts are essential for producing high-quality, virus-free grapevines to generate nursery fields for vegetative propagation, and in the understanding of the role of plant-associated microbiomes and the mechanisms they engage in conferring resistance to heat stress and plant diseases, emphasized the importance of the preservation of local biodiversity and how these grapevine cultivars can adapt to future climate change challenges. Throughout my career, I attended several training courses and workshops, participated as team member in several research projects and my work resulted in eight peer reviewed articles in journals such as Food Microbiology, Food Chemistry, Journal of Functional Foods, among others, and was awarded with the best oral presentation and one article as Editor’s Choice. I have actively shared my results through oral and panel presentations at conferences, supervised master's theses, and teaching in several courses in UAc, and made significant contributions to developing new methodologies in microbiology and food biotechnology. As a result, I have a h-index of 6 with 283 citations (Scopus) and 386 citations (Google Scholar). I have actively engaged with other academics in my area to grow my network and connections and have collaborated with (inter)national research groups from Portugal, Ireland and Hungary. With several years of experience in the field of scientific research, dance coach, voluntary and teacher, proven ability to assess and manage obstacles; team leadership, organizational and communication skills. I am an organized, communicative, and persistent researcher who wants to expand my expertise and contribute to scientific advancement.
