Marcos António Martins Bento concluded the MSc in Bioorganic Chemistry in 2021/02/10 by Universidade Nova de Lisboa Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia and the BSc in Chemistry in 2018/07/12 by Universidade de Lisboa Faculdade de Ciências. He has 2 first author articles (one published and one accepted) in "Boletim da Sociedade Portuguesa de Química" intitled "Opicapona - o Primeiro Inibidor da COMT de Terceira Geração" and another in Sustainability journal intitled "Cryptand-functionalised highly oriented pyrolytic graphite electrodes". He participated in 7 international conferences with 5 panel communications and was member of the organising committee of 1 international event (SpinOn Multifuncional Magnetic Materials Workshop'18). He also performed an oral presentation about Hoffmann clathrates at the 11th European School on Molecular Nanoscience in Tenerife, Spain. He is skilled in organic and inorganic synthesis, electrochemistry, and materials fields. During BSc's, he synthesised Hofmann clathrates based on acceptor/donating units to study the magnetic properties of these type of materials. In the MSc, he developed biomimetic catalysts for CO2 electrochemical reduction using molybdenum complexes. He acquired deep knowledge in Schlenck techniques, complexation reactions (with Mo, Fe, Ni, Co), organic synthesis (C-C coupling, reduction, oxidation, substitutions, etc), characterisation techniques (full operation: nuclear magnetic resonance, infrared, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, gas chromatography with thermal conductivity detector; data analysis: elemental analysis, mass spectrometry, superconducting quantum interference device) and electrochemical procedures (cyclic voltammetry and bulk electrolysis). At the moment, he is a PhD student in the chemistry course of Universidade de Lisboa Faculdade de Ciências, and is holding a PhD student bursary funded by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT). His current interests are the preparation of new metal complexes and materials for CO2 conversion, using plasma and photochemical procedures.
