Catarina Dias received her doctoral degree in Physics from University of Porto, Portugal in 2019, after a masters in Physics Engineering (2013). Then, she joined the Institute of Physics for Advanced Materials, Nanotechnology and Photonics (IFIMUP) as a junior researcher. Since 2023 she has individual funding under the Scientific Employment Stimulus (CEEC). In 2021 she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship that allowed her to start a new collaboration and conduct research in 2D photonic materials for 4-months at UT Austin. In 2022, she went 1.5-months to Aalto University under another collaboration in 2D memristive materials. Her areas of scientific activity are Resistive Switching, Neuromorphic Computing, Brain Machine Interfaces and Memories. Other research interests include machine learning, photonic computing, neuronal interfaces, numerical simulations, and microfabrication techniques. Under these topics, she is/was already involved in the supervision of 4 PhD, 8 MSc and 16 undergraduate students. C.Dias is the PI of the exploratory project 2DoNeuron under the Austin Portugal Program, for the development of 2D photonic memristive devices for Neuromorphic applications, and co-PI of the FCT funded project MNemonicS, aiming the Storing and recalling biological Memories with Neuromorphic Electronics. Since 2019, she has been an invited teacher in the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto lecturing Physics Laboratory I, II & III and at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) on a memristors module for Nanotechnology and Nanoelectronics. Both at FCUP and IFIMUP, she has a very active role in dissemination activities and event organization.
