Rafael Pinheiro obtained his doctorate with distinction in 2021, in the area of Systems Engineering from the graduate program in Electrical Engineering of the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo. His doctoral activities focused on training and research in: mathematical modelling of dynamic systems, including biological and medical systems; control and automation systems, advanced control theories; artificial intelligence; and neurocomputing. Rafael Pinheiro in his doctoral thesis developed a mathematical model called Alzheimer-like disease (ALD) and novel systems of controls capable of curing the mathematically modelled neuropathology. Rafael Pinheiro also obtained master's degrees (2015) and bachelor (2010) in Applied and Computational Mathematics. From 2022 to 2024 Rafael Pinheiro carried out post-doctoral studies at the Center for Innovative Care and Health Technology (ciTechCare), Polytechnic of Leiria, Portugal, where he acquired new skills in the area of artificial intelligence applied to health. During this post-doc, he developed new algorithms using machine learning techniques to support the diagnosis of heart and metabolic diseases. Currently, as a contracted researcher at the ciTechCare he is working on important projects with high levels of funding (e.g., 2Arts, CBmeter and Upgrade). In these projects, he has obtained new mathematical models and diagnostic and treatment systems for heart, metabolic and mental diseases via artificial intelligence techniques and control. Furthermore, he is a university professor (since 2014) teaching subjects in the field of mathematics and electrical engineering. Topics of interest: mathematical modelling of biological systems, biomedical engineering, control theory, Lurie's problem, processing of biosignals and artificial intelligence applied to the health area.

In the demonstration, a visualization of EEG and GSR signals was performed with each participant, followed by stimuli with the inhalation of essential oil and virtual reality glasses, and finally a new visualization of EEG and GSR signals was performed. The objective of this procedure was to verify the sensation of the participant after the stimulus and verify changes in patterns in the signals captured.
