Luciana Barbosa da Silva is a postdoctoral researcher at the Centro de Recursos Naturais e Ambiente (CERENA) of the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) at the University of Lisbon. She has extensive experience in Organic Chemistry and in the synthesis of new compounds using eco-friendly methodologies. She completed her PhD in Organic Chemistry in 2024 at the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, with Distinction. She obtained a MSc degree in Chemistry (2018), specializing in Organic Chemistry. She conducts research in the area of Organic Chemistry applied to the synthesis of sustainable materials. Her dedication and commitment to scientific research are remarkable, throughout her career she has published 6 relevant articles (2 as first author, 4 as co-author), with one of her articles as first author being awarded Editor's Choice. She has presented 12 posters at national and international conferences. In the academic field, she has always been involved in teaching activities, having been a tutor in organic chemistry during her MSc and also during her PhD. She has mentored 11 national and international students (3 MSc and 8 PhD) and currently co-supervises a PhD student. Currently, as a postdoctoral fellow in the CORKBIND project, she conducts research focused on the production of new sustainable binders using renewable raw materials for cork agglomeration. In parallel, she is actively engaged in creating innovative ideas in the health field, developing research aimed at synthesizing new compounds of sustainable origin for application in cancer treatment. Her research focuses primarily on creating innovative, sustainable, and economically viable solutions that promote health and well-being associated with environmental sustainability.
