Vitor Anes nasceu em Lisboa, Portugal, em 1976, e obteve os graus de mestre e de doutor em engenharia mecânica, em 2009 e 2015, respetivamente, ambos pelo Instituto Superior Técnico da Universidade de Lisboa. Em 2020 obtém o seu segundo doutoramento em engenharia de concepção e produção - líderes em indústrias tecnológicas, também pelo Instituto Superior Técnico em parceria com o Massachussets Institute of Technology (MIT). É docente do Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa (ISEL) na Área Departamental de Engenharia Mecânica desde 2015, onde leciona unidades curriculares da licenciatura e do mestrado em engenharia mecânica assim como do mestrado em engenharia e gestão industrial. Vitor Anes tem vindo a realizar atividades de investigação em diversas áreas tais como o desenvolvimento de novos produtos, projeto mecânico, caracterização mecânica de materiais, integridade estrutural, seleção de materiais, fiabilidade, avaliação e gestão do risco em inovação, tomada de decisão multicritério, e simulação de processos e operações. Tem sido colaborador em vários projetos de investigação e conta com mais de 70 artigos publicados em jornais científicos e atas de conferências científicas internacionais. Mais recentemente, Vitor Anes tem-se concentrado no desenvolvimento de modelos de avaliação e gestão do risco de sistemas complexos usando abordagens qualitativas e quantitativas. As aplicações deste trabalho visam dar suporte às tomadas de decisão no contexto do desenvolvimento e implementação de projetos de inovação.
