I am a Aquatic Ecologist and hold a PhD in Biology, specialty Marine Ecology (2017) from the University of Coimbra, Portugal, with training at Univ. of Pavia (IT) and AZTI (SP). I carried out post-doctoral activities at the: Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ, Yerseke, NL), at the Centre for Functional Ecology (CFE, Univ. of Coimbra), and at the Faculty of Sciences, Univ. of Porto. From July 2020 until December 2023, I worked as a researcher at the Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR, Matosinhos). My main research focuses on understanding the response of aquatic organisms to environmental pressures and how this may affect ecosystem functioning. I have large experience in using trait-based approaches. More recently, I have been working on the restoration topic, i.e. on Artificial Reefs as part of the EU 3DPARE project, which I have been coordinating. In my latest function I was also responsible for the Institute’s Scientific Dive Centre and scientific dive missions. Over the last 5 years, I participated in 4 international R&D projects, co-authoring 9 scientific publications in ISI Journals.
