Daniel Santarém has a B.Sc. in Sport Sciences (2020), a M.Sc. in Teaching of Physical Education at basic and secondary education levels (2023), and is a Ph.D. student in Sport Sciences at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD, Vila Real, Portugal). He is a specialised researcher in Exercise and Health at the Heart scientific research community, part of the Research Centre in Sports Sciences, Health Sciences and Human Development (CIDESD, Vila Real, Portugal). His main lines of research integrate advanced physiological monitoring techniques to assess the acute and chronic response of biomarkers, with a focus on muscle oxygenation assessed by near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) technology. A key aspect of his research involves the development of personalised exercise prescriptions, optimising training interventions with the aim of promoting health and physical fitness improvements. In recent years, he has authored scientific articles published in international peer-reviewed journals and has received significant international recognition. In 2022 and 2023, he participated in the 27th and 28th editions of the European College of Sport Science Congress, respectively, through oral presentations. In 2024, he participated in the first edition of the mNIRS 2024: Muscle Oxygen Bridging Science, Technology, and Practice conference, held at the University of Essex (Colchester, United Kingdom), which resulted in the distinction of best poster presentation. In 2025, he participated as a speaker at the 2025 Moxy Summit Webinar.
