João Moreira is a PhD student at the Centre of Biological Engineering of University of Minho (CEB-UMinho) since February 2020, a member of the doctoral program in chemical and biological engineering (UMinho)and of the PhD in applied and environmental microbiology (DP_AEM). João Moreira’s research topic is focused on expanding the product scope of the biological conversion of gas streams. He is also conducting his research for a research project (INNOVsyn – Innovative strategies for syngas fermentation). João Moreira graduated in Biochemistry in 2015 (Faculty of Sciences, UPorto), and completed his master’s studies in Biotechnology in 2017 (School of Engineering, UMinho). During his master’s thesis exchange program at the Laboratory of Microbiology, Wageningen University (The Netherlands), João started to work with acetogenic bacteria and fermentation of gas streams.¿From 2017 to 2019 João Moreira worked for the biotech company Global Bioenergies, conducting synthetic biology research on the development of new technologies to generate new bio commodities from renewable resources using biological catalysts. Before starting his phD João integrated the research project INNOVsyn as a fellowship member. João Moreira has authored a total of 3 papers in international journals with peer review.
