Luís Porfírio Looren Esmerado Alves Brás has completed his BSc and MSc in Biochemistry from the University of Beira Interior (UBI). Currently, he is a PhD student in Biomedicine at Health Sciences Research Centre (CICS-UBI). Luís published 2 scientific articles as co-author in peer-review journals. Also, he has been actively participating in national and international scientific events with 12 posters presentations (6 as first author). His main research interests are focused on the action of endocrine disruptors (obesogenic) and androgens in controlling the cell survival and metabolism of prostate cancer. Considering lab work experience, Luís has strong skills in cell culture, cell viability assays, immunocytochemistry, protein extraction and quantification, Western Blot analysis, quantification of extracellular metabolites, measurement of enzymatic activity. Luís Brás has academic experience collaborating in teaching activities of the 1st cycle of studies in Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Optometry and Vision Sciences, Bioengineering.
