Valter Costa is a PhD researcher in Computer Vision at INEGI. Currently, he develops artificial vision solutions for the industry, including object identification and recognition, visual inspection, object tracking and thermographic video/image processing . During his PhD he developed a patented technology - WO2018078600 - for anti-counterfeiting of wines based on the recognition of images of cork stoppers. For two years, he worked on the development of electronic products in the area of embedded electronic systems, microcontrollers and the development of PCBs, also at INEGI. During his academic career, he was a teaching assistant at FEUP in two programming units, having acquired a lot of experience at this level. Still, he is a robotics enthusiast having participated several times in the Portuguese Robotics Open having won the 1st place in the years 2017, 2018 and 2019 in the autonomous driving competition.
