Paulo Ribeiro earned a degree in Geological Engineering from the University of Aveiro (1993) and a master's degree in Dynamic Geology (specializing in Geodynamics) from the University of Lisbon (1998). Since 2002 he has been a senior technician (Atmospheric Physics and Geophysics) at the Geophysical and Astronomical Observatory of the University of Coimbra (OGAUC), where he coordinates the Geophysical Observations Unit. He has been also a collaborator at the Center for Earth and Space Science Research of Coimbra (CITEUC), where he has carried out research in the areas of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy, Rock Magnetism and Paleomagnetism, and the History of Science. He has participated in several research projects, and more recently was Co-PI of the HISTIGUC project (150 years of scientific activity of the Geophysical Institute of the University of Coimbra: history and heritage of earth and environmental sciences in Portugal, PTDC/FER-HFC/30666/2017), and was part of the MAG-GIC project (Geomagnetically induced currents in mainland Portugal, PTDC/CTA - GEO/31744/2017), where he was responsible for the task Geomagnetic Data Provision and Transfer of the Geomagnetic Observatory of Coimbra (COI).
