Ricardo Marcos-Pinto (RMP) completed the MD degree in 2004 by the University of Porto, Portugal. In 2012, RMP completed his specialization in Gastroenterology and he is currently a specialist in the Gastroenterology Department at Centro Hospitalar do Porto (CHUP). During his clinical career, RMP has taken part of several clinical trials, particularly in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and he is involved in the formation of specialized clinicians, mentoring both medical doctors and medical students. RMP has an active research career being the responsible of the scientific branch of the Gastroenterology department of CHUP. He has been presenting his work in colorectal cancer risk and IBD in several meetings both national and international. Currently, RMP is the Head of the Cancer Risk unit of the Gastroenterology department of CHUP and the coordinator of the scientific committee of the Portuguese Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. RMP has combined his clinical career with research, obtaining his PhD in Medical Sciences at ICBAS, University of Porto in 2013, and participating in several research projects in the field of Gastroenterology and Immunology. RMP has a vast experience in supervising PhD, MD-PhD and MSc students and is part of the revision board of indexed journals on Gastroenterology field, such as European Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology and World Journal of Gastroenterology. RMP has published more than 35 scientific papers (which some of them are included in this short CV), having more than 1400 citations and an h-index of 14.
