Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Coimbra in 2017. He is a Researcher at Centro de Recursos Naturais e Ambiente (Universidade de Lisboa) since 2019 and his research interests are in the field of Process Systems Engineering applied to a variety of problems in biorefining, thermodynamics, and chemical reaction engineering. In particular, he investigates the synthesis and design of processes for the valorization of biomass and the production of advanced biofuels. He develops methodologies based on mathematical programming to build reliable thermodynamic and chemical reaction models which are later incorporated in process simulation and optimization studies. His research works also include techno-economic analysis of processes, risk analysis, heat and mass integration, and the optimal design of unit operations. Besides, he has developed learning tools and web-based computer simulators for the teaching of separation processes. His activities have resulted in various scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, articles in proceedings and presentations in various international and national conferences.
