EXPERTISE AND TRACK-RECORD. My scientific research area is Chemical Engineering, sub-area of Unit Operations and Transfer Phenomena. My research is in Chemical Process Engineering, with emphasis on Adsorption Science and Technology, Materials Engineering and Environmental Biotechnology. My research follows a multidisciplinary approach to solve bottom-up problems in the gas adsorption field of research. When looking to the small details of any adsorption process for gas separation, the focus of my attention goes to the key adsorbent which ultimately defines the performance of the separation. -------------------------------------- IMPACT. I am Assistant Professor since 2020 at FCT NOVA. Till 2020, I was an Assistant Researcher and Invited Assistant Professor at the Chemistry Department of FCT NOVA for 10 years. I published 70 papers in peer-reviewed journals - 46 articles and 7 conference abstracts in Scopus, 14 peer-reviewed from meetings with copyright, 1 in SPQ bulletin, 1 in Advances in Engineering magazine - and 4 invited book chapters. In Scopus, my h-index is 22 and I have attracted about 1186 citations (i10-index = 39; 1590 citations on Google Scholar). On WOS (search for AUTHOR: esteves iaac* OR AUTHOR ID: 0000-0002-2242-6016), the average citation per item is 23.67 with 11% of self-citations. About 60% of the published papers are quartile Q1 Chemical Engineering journals; the rest is multidisciplinary. I have 117 meeting communications (50% oral), 90 of them after PhD (43 as lead author). I received 3 best poster awards from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the European Membrane Society (EMS) and the International Adsorption Society (IAS). Since 2009, I peer-review papers for 24 recognized international journals (JCR), juried >10 theses, supervise students (21 Masters, 3 ERASMUS, 5 PhDs, 2 Postdocs, >26 undergraduates) and 13 fellowships. My lab is within the Research Group Bio(chemical) Process Engineering of LAQV-REQUIMTE. I have been PI of 5 projects and a team member of other 6 (> 780kEur from which 502kEur as PI), holding collaborations (most of them with signed agreements with coordination) with industry and research centres and University Faculties.
