I am Bárbara Camarão. a researcher in the field of Natural Sciences with an emphasis on Biological Sciences, namely Marine Biology. The focus of my scientific career is the conservation and protection of marine life. I have a degree in Marine Biology (2013) from the University of Algarve and a Master's degree in Marine Biology (2017) from the University of Aveiro. Since graduating, I have worked on the rehabilitation of marine animals and on different research projects related to marine and estuarine fauna and flora, aquaculture, blue economy, resource valorization, water quality and environmental risk. I was a speaker at the European Conference ALGAEUROPE2022 where I presented the results of the VALSAR project – Valorization of Sargasso on the North Coast of Portugal and I also participated in other scientific events, such as the 27th European Cetacean Society Conference (ECS) and the International Sustainable Ocean Conference (ISOC). I have a sail cruising license, in the category of "Patrão Local" with experience of sailing in estuaries. I have solid experience in planning and carrying out sampling of various environmental matrices and field work and I also have experience in various sample processing methods, compound extraction, and sorting and identification of estuarine and coastal fauna. My professional career has also allowed me to deepen my knowledge and gain experience in various analytical techniques, mainly UV/Vis spectroscopy and Total Organic Carbon analysis.
