Nuno Viduedo was born in 1998, in Lisbon, Portugal. He obtained his bachelor's degree in Applied Chemistry, from NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT/UNL), in 2019, completing the degree with the highest grade in that academic year (with 17 out of 20 evaluation). Since then, he continued his studies and in 2021 received his master's degree in Bioorganic Chemistry (with 19 out of 20 evaluation), after finishing his thesis, entitled "Sustainable and Efficient Manganese-Catalyzed Imine Formation: a Step Further to One-Pot Bimetallic Synthesis of N-Heterocycles", under the supervision of Prof. Maria Manuel Marques and Prof. Beatriz Royo. In addition to his master's thesis having received the maximum internal evaluation (20 out of 20), Nuno was also awarded, by the Portuguese Chemical Society, with the best Portuguese master thesis in organic chemistry, in 2021. The obtained experimental results were presented at the 7th Portuguese Young Chemists Meeting (Poster Communication) and a publication is currently under review on a peer-review scientific journal (SYNLETT). In the last year, Nuno was also co-author of a review article and a book chapter. Recently, Nuno was part of the winning team of the 1st National Retrossynthetic Competition – SPQ and invited to be co-author of an article about the topic, entitled Retrossíntese: Uma Ferramenta Fundamental para a Construção de Novos Caminhos Sintéticos, in QUÍMICA – Boletim da Sociedade Portuguesa de Química, a paper that is already accepted and waiting for publication. During his academic period, Nuno was an active member of Núcleo de Estudantes de Química Aplicada, having participated, in this context, in the organizing committee of several events. Also, he was a volunteer member of various committees, assisting the accomplishment of scientific, informative and sociocultural events. Nuno’s main scientific interests are focused on the development of new and sustainable approaches for the synthesis of N-heterocycles, specially involving metal-catalysed methodologies. In 2021, he was awarded with a research grant and is currently working as research fellow in 1Pot2Cat project, under the supervision of Prof. Maria Manuel Marques and Prof. Beatriz Royo.
