Graduated in Veterinary Medicine (2015) and Master in Animal Medicine, Health and Biotechnology (2016) at the University of Cordoba (UCO). He obtained his PhD degree with the thesis entitled "Epidemiology of Shared Pathogens at the Domestic-Wild Ungulate Interface" with the mention 'International Doctorate' and the qualification 'Excellent Cum Laude' (June 2022) at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM). He has held several grants and pre/postdoctoral research contracts associated with the Animal Health and Zoonosis Research Group (GISAZ, UCO) and the Health and Biotechnology Group at the Wildlife and Game Research Institute (SABIO-IREC, UCLM). He has carried out research stays in prestigious national centres: Translational Research Group in Infectious Diseases of the Maimonides Institute of Biomedical Research of Cordoba (IMIBIC; 6 months in 2016) and GISAZ (UCO; 10 months in 2017); as well as international ones: Department of Game Management and Wildlife Biology (Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague, 3 months in 2021) and CIBIO-InBIO Research Centre in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources (University of Porto, 4 months in 2021 and 2 months in 2022). He has collaborated with the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) as an international expert on biosecurity in extensive pig production. He has published 38 articles in JCR-indexed scientific journals, has presented 93 communications in different national and international scientific congresses and has written 8 book chapters related to transmissible infectious diseases at the interface between wildlife, extensive livestock farming, humans and the environment. In addition, he has published a total of 10 papers in non-indexed scientific-technical journals. He has also participated as a team or researcher in numerous research projects at European (3), national (5), regional (4) and local (13) level; and 5 article 83-type contracts with private or public companies. He has also directed 4 end-of-degree projects, all of them related to the epidemiology of shared diseases. He is associate editor of the journal 'Frontiers in Veterinary Science' and has been reviewer of 5 articles in Q1/Q2 indexed journals. He has taught in the Degree in Veterinary Science (UCO and Complutense University of Madrid) and in the Degree in Agricultural and Food Engineering, as well as in the Master's Degrees in Applied Research in Hunting Resources and Agronomic Engineering (UCLM). He has taught and received numerous specialisation courses, participating in several teaching innovation projects (4), also generating publications at this level (6). He has received several awards for his scientific (11) and teaching work (1).
