Hugo Arantes de Morais

Activities carried out as a guest assistant at the School of Tourism and Marine Technology (ESTM) of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (IPLeiria) in the area of aquaculture and fishing. He completed his master's degree in Aquiculture, having subsequently completed a specialization in Marine Resources Biotechnology. As a marine biologist, he was part of a team of researchers responsible for capturing and maintaining marine organisms. As a researcher at MARE-IPLeiria, Hugo Morais developed several works within the scope in the PROMAR projects (GacOeste). In addition, Hugo Morais worked as a laboratory technician at the Center for R&D, Training and Dissemination of Maritime Knowledge - Edifício CETEMARES (Peniche), having coordinated various management and maintenance tasks for the laboratories located there. He is an open water diver, with extensive experience in this field, due to the various activities carried out with diving mainly at the scientific level, having participated in scientific expeditions. His main interests combine knowledge and skills acquired in order to develop research activities focused on the problems and challenges of society, in close partnership with the general public, with the greatest interest in promoting marine biology, aquaculture, fisheries and blue biotechnology. He is currently a PhD student at the Faculty of Science of the University of Porto, performing all his work in the Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research, CIIMAR within the Endocrine Disruptores and Emergent Contaminants (EDEC) team.
