Gabriela Veríssimo Rodrigues holds a Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology and Biotechnology (2017–2020) from the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, a Master's degree in Biotechnology for Health Sciences (2020–2023) from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro and In September 2024, she began her PhD in Biomedicine and Health Sciences at the University of Minho. Her academic path has been driven by a strong interest in understanding the genetic and molecular foundations of human diseases, particularly those associated with genomic instability and repetitive DNA sequences. During her Bachelor's programme, she was involved in a research project that awakened her interest in biotechnological applications in health, which led her to pursue advanced studies in this field. In her Master’s degree, she focused on the characterization of satellite DNA sequences associated with human Robertsonian translocations. This work allowed her to develop solid expertise in molecular and cytogenetic techniques, as well as bioinformatics applied to repetitive DNA sequence analysis. Her research experience encompasses molecular and cytogenetic analyses, focusing on satellite DNA sequences associated with human chromosomal translocations. The culmination of her Master’s dissertation, which was awarded the highest classification (20 values), led to the first authorship and co-authorship of 2 scientific articles. This work also contributed to the development of 1 online resource and resulted in 5 posters published at national scientific conferences. Beyond academic research, she volunteered in the TaskForce UTAD Covid-19 (October 2020–May 2021), contributing to the molecular diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro. To strengthen her scientific background, in May 2024, she attended the 5th Edition of the Theoretical-Practical Course in Cytogenetics and Genomics in Diagnosis and Research (University of Coimbra). In September 2024, she began her PhD in Biomedicine and Health Sciences at the University of Minho. Since then, she has completed the 19th Edition of the Advanced Course in Fundamentals in Neuroscience. In March 2025, she received training in animal experimentation (“Laboratory Animal Science”, FELASA certification). More recently, she completed the 1st Edition of the Advanced Course in Genetics and Molecular Biology in Biomedicine. Throughout her academic and professional trajectory, she has developed competencies in cell and molecular biology, human genetics, and biotechnology applied to health.
