Cláudia Pereira Passos completed a graduation course in Chemical Engineering in 2004 in University of Aveiro (UA) and the Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 2010 in UA. Is Assistant Researcher (CEEC-IND) in LAQV-REQUIMTE research Unit at UA. SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTION: in the last 5 (total of 17) years 2 (out of 5) book chapters were published, 25 (out of 48) articles, with respectively 44% as the correspondent and 24% as the lead senior achieving 2469 citations and an index h=24 and index w=7 (n articles with citations n). The interaction activities include 128 collaborator(s) co-authorship of scientific papers, from several Portuguese and international Universities. An average impact factor of 6.4 is highlighted from a total cumulative impact factor of 153 accounted in the last 5 years of publication. From the participation in scientific international and national congresses, 18 (out of 35 as presenting author) oral presentations, and 27 (out of 87) poster presentations are highlighted. The scientific performance has been achieved during the period that included a Ph.D. in chemical engineering, 2 post-doctoral grants an a current assistant researcher position in the area of food chemistry with a special interest in the application of green extraction processes, namely supercritical extraction and microwave assisted extraction for recovery of bioactive compounds from food waste. Transforming industrial agrofood waste into by-products and co-products, while reducing food waste in general is a strategy. Acrylamide monitoring and development of acrylamide mitigation strategies is also a current research area of study and knowledge. Current research work is focus on extraction and separation using green technologies such as supercritical fluids, microwaves and ultrafiltration applied for extraction of oils, phenolics, and polysaccharides in several food and food-waste, complementing their applications into innovative drug delivery systems. Is Editorial Board Member of open access journal Foods (IF. 4.7, MDPI Publishers), and Guest Editor for a Special Issue in open access journal Food Chemistry:X (IF. 6.5, Elsevier). COORDINATION AND PARTICIPATION IN SCIENTIFIC PROJECTS: Was coordinator of a scientific project (2018-2022) PulManCar - Microparticles design for active compounds pulmonary delivery using insulin as model (total budget of 239.963,01€). Has participation in 2 FCT scientific projects, and several industrial co-promoting projects. INTERVENTION IN SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY AND CONSTITUTION OF SCIENTIFIC TEAMS: Highlighted the organization as chair of one international meeting for the cost-Action ACRYRED, and participation as member of the organization committee of 2 international conferences (last 5y), and several others. Has teaching experience in the area of (bio)chemistry. Has 3 undergoing PhD. Students, supervised 13 MSc students (Biochemistry (9), Biotechnology (2), and Chemical Engineering (2); and 41 graduation students: in Biochemistry (29) and Biotechnology (12). She was also the supervisor of 3 research fellows and 1 research contract. Was reviewer and Rapporteur for the Luxemburg National Research Fund (FNR) (project proposal of 874 k€). INTERNATIONALIZATION. Is the MC (Management Committee) member from Portugal to COST Action CA21149 “Reducing acrylamide exposure of consumers by a cereals supply-chain approach targeting asparagine (ACRYRED)”, and participating member for Cost action CA22134“Sustainable Network for agrofood loss and waste prevention, management, quantification and valorisation”, 2023-2028. Was also a member in cost action CA18125“Advanced Engineering and Research of aeroGels for Environment and Life Sciences”,and participated in 2024 in a Short Term Scientific Mission (STSM) for the advanced Cost action ECO-AERoGELS (IG18125) “Technical, commercial and societal innovations on aerogels towards circular economy” reinforcing her international collaboration in the area of aerogels.
