Sara Guerreiro is a PhD student in biomedical engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. She works in collaboration with the i3S, CDRSP and IPO-Porto on gastroretentive and implantable electrospun nanofibers for radiotherapy enhancement. In 2016, she started her research activities as intern in the Biomedical Electronics research group at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona where she worked on numerical studies to simulate the behaviour of implantable neuroprostheses. In 2018, she obtained her integrated master's degree in biomedical and biophysical engineering from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. Her master thesis, entitled "Automating daily Linac quality control using portal images", was developed at the Radiation Oncology Department of Champalimaud Clinical Centre, and focused on the development of image-based quantitative methods for radiotherapy quality control. In 2019, Sara joined the Biofabrication Group of Polytechnic of Leiria for the development of novel equipment for the manufacture of drug-delivery systems for medical applications.
