Cláudia Patrícia Martins Monteiro Moreno completed the Biochemistry degree in 2004 by the University of Coimbra, Faculty of Sciences and Technology, Coimbra, Portugal. In 2006 Cláudia got a Marie Curie Early stage Fellowship and started her PhD studies in the group of Professor Ute Römling at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden, with focus on the regulation of biofilm formation in Salmonella and Escherichia coli. In 2011 Claudia got the PhD in Medical Sciences by Karolinska Institutet. Since then, Cláudia has been working in the group of Professor Cristina Martins at the National Institute of Biomedical Engineering (INEB) in Porto, Portugal, which integrated the i3S consortium (i3S, Institute for Research and Innovation in Health) in 2015. Presently, Cláudia has a Contracted Researcher position at i3S, with a publication record of 27 articles and 3 abstract meetings in international peer-reviewed journals, and an h-index of 13 (SCOPUS/NOV 2024). Cláudia participated as PhD student in 1 project, as Pos-doctoral Fellow in 2 projects, as Researcher in 3 projects and as a Principal Investigator in 1 project (ongoing). Cláudia successfully supervised 3PhDs, 6MSc and 4 undergraduate. Cláudia has also been involved in mentoring of students (5 PhD and 4 MSc), namely exchange students of INT- mCBEEs (EU) (PhD) and FAPESP grant number #2018/25532-9 (Brazil) (MSc). The work was disseminated in 40 oral presentations (25 international) and 45 posters. Cláudia works in the field of Biomedical Engineering with emphasis on Molecular Microbiology, Biomaterials and Nanotechnology for development of new therapeutics to prevent and treat Infection. Cláudia is also frequently involved in outreach activities namely in schools and is an active member of the group GreenLab Initiative which aims to implement green laboratory practices at i3S. Claudia was the coordinator of this group between 2020-23, and granted funding from EUGLOH University Alliance, as Coordinator of the project "Greening up Life Science Laboratories".
