Luís Filipe Pinheiro de Castro, born in 1968, received the Diploma (Licenciatura) Degree from the University of Aveiro, Portugal, in 1991, the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Applied Mathematics and Mathematics from Instituto Superior Técnico, Technical University of Lisbon (now University of Lisbon), in 1994 and 1998, respectively. In 2004, he received the Habilitation (¿Agregação¿) Degree from University of Aveiro. Luís Castro has a great deal of experience in the area of university management, having held influential positions such as Vice-President of the Directive Council of Department of Mathematics of University of Aveiro (1998-2000), Vice-President of the Directive Board of the Centre Delegation of the Portuguese Mathematical Society (2000-2002), President of the Scientific-Pedagogic Council of Department of Mathematics of University of Aveiro (2001-2003), Coordinator of the Scientific Committee of Department of Mathematics of University of Aveiro (2001-2003), Scientific Coordinator of the Research Unit Mathematics and Applications, which had 55 Ph.D. members and 82 elements in total (2006 ¿ 2010), Scientific Coordinator of CIDMA - Center for Research and Development in Mathematics and Applications (2010-2018), which had more than 80 Ph.D. integrated members and over 140 elements in total (see http://cidma.mat.ua.pt/), Adjunct President of the Scientific Council of University of Aveiro (2016-2018). Luís Castro has more than 20 years of teaching experience in Mathematics at B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. levels. Luis Castro¿s commitment to teaching won him systematic evaluations above 80% (and very frequently above 90%) in the University of Aveiro official inquiry to the students (as well as two informal prizes from the students of Department of Mathematics of University of Aveiro). Luís Castro¿s research interests include several topics in the areas of Boundary Value Problems, Operator Theory, Functional Analysis, Integral and Differential Equations, and Mathematical-Physics. Luís Castro has been member of the Editorial Board of several mathematical journals, has contributed over 150 peer-reviewed papers, and gave more than 120 talks at research seminars or international conferences. He supervised 6 Ph.D. students and served as adviser for 5 post-docs. Luís Castro has more than 20 participations in organizing committees of scientific meetings, and over 15 participations in scientific committees of scientific meetings. He has produced more than 320 scientific reports for Zentralblatt MATH and more than 190 reviews for MathSciNet - Mathematical Reviewers (AMS), as well as hundreds of reviews for more than 125 (different) scientific journals. During one term, from May 8, 2018 to May 18, 2022, he was Vice-Rector of the University of Aveiro (for the promotion of Quality, Communication, Effectiveness and Efficiency of the University). He has been a Full Professor of Mathematics since 2009.
