Ana Simões is Full Professor of History of Science at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, Portugal, and member of the Centre for the History of Science and Technology (CIUHCT), which she (co-)coordinated from 2007 to 2019. She is President of the European Society for the History of Science (2018-2020). Her research interests include the history of quantum chemistry, and history of science in Portugal, 18th to 20th centuries, with special emphasis to urban history of science and to the anthropocene as seen through the lens of history of science. She is a founding member of the international group STEP – Science and Technology in the European Periphery and of the online journal of history of science and technology HoST. She authored and edited more than 150 publications, participates in national and international research projects and networks, and regularly organizes meetings, both nationally and internationally. Recent publications include Sciences in the Universities of Europe, nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
