Isabel Maria Valgôde Alves Pôças

I have a PhD in Agrarian Sciences (2010) by Universidade do Porto - Faculdade de Ciências (FCUP, Portugal), a MSc in Genetic Resources and Plant Breeding of Agricultural and Forestry Species (2003) by Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD, Portugal), and a 1st Degree in Agrarian Sciences Engineering (1999) by FCUP. Since November 2020 I hold a Senior Researcher position at ForestWISE - Collaborative Laboratory for Integrated Forest & Fire Management. Between 2018 and October 2020 I held a Post doc grant at Universidade do Porto - Centro de Investigação em Ciências Geo-Espaciais (CICGE, Portugal) under the research infrastructure "Enabling Green E-Science for the SKA", and during this time period I was the leader of the research group for applications of remote sensing in agriculture (AgrEO Lab) at CICGE. Between 2012 and 2018 I did a Post doc at Universidade de Lisboa - Centro de Investigação em Agronomia Alimentos Ambiente e Paisagem (LEAF, Portugal), under the topic "Estimation of evapotranspiration in irrigated agricultural systems in different regions of Portugal using remote sensing". I have teaching experience at the higher degree education level, having lectured several courses of the Agrarian Sciences field, at FCUP and Escola Superior Agrária de Ponte de Lima - Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo (Portugal), and of the Remote Sensing field at Universidade Eduardo Mondlane (Mozambique). My specialization domains include the application of remote sensing data and tools for: (i) developing methodologies to support agriculture water management; (ii) assessing biophysical parameters of vegetation; (iii) monitoring vegetation dynamics, agroforestry systems, landscape, and biodiversity.
