Renata Ferreira Vidal is an Environmental Engineer with a Master’s degree from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. Her research focuses on the enantioselective ecotoxicity of psychoactive substances and antibiotics, particularly their effects on aquatic organisms such as Daphnia magna. She has contributed to several research initiatives at institutions including the University of Porto and the Instituto Universitário de Ciências da Saúde, investigating the environmental impacts and stereoselective processes of pharmaceutical compounds. Her work has been presented at national and international conferences, earning distinctions such as the Best Poster Communication Award at PhD Day IUCS 2024. She has also published a scientific article as first author in the field of ecotoxicology. She is currently a researcher on the STAR project, studying stereoselective environmental processes in antibiotics and their potential contribution to antimicrobial resistance. Her recent academic training includes advanced courses on organic micropollutants, toxicological diagnostics, and sustainable food systems, and she has developed strong technical skills in liquid and gas chromatography (both analytical and preparative), sample preparation, and ecotoxicity assessment through toxicity testing on aquatic organisms. These experiences support her research interests in ecotoxicology, environmental chemistry, emerging contaminants, and their effects on aquatic ecosystems.
