Vitor H. Carvalho obtained in 2024 the Habilitation title in Electrotechnical Engineering and received in 2008 his PhD in degree in industrial electronics, in the option of industrial informatics. He is currently working as associate (tenured) professor with habilitation at the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA), Barcelos, Portugal as well as integrated researcher of the Applied Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at IPCA and collaborator of the Algoritmi Research Centre at Minho University. He is also the Dean of the School of Technology at IPCA. He belonged to the European Commission Expert Group on AI and Data for Education and Training. His main fields of interest are related with data acquisition systems, serious games and machine learning. He has published more than 200 papers, being also a member of the editorial board of several international conferences and journals. He has more than 2000 (h index 25) citations in Google Scholar and more than 1000 (h index 17) citation in Scopus. He has supervised several PhD and Master students as well as coordinated and participated in funded projects in the related fields of interest.
