I am a full professor in Management (Finance) at the School of Economics and Management. With a background that includes a master's thesis from the Univ. of Lisbon and a Ph.D. from the Univ. of Minho, my research journey initially centered around mutual fund performance before shifting to sustainable investments. My early research in the field, especially my 2009 Journal of Business Ethics paper, was one of the pioneer papers on the performance of sustainable mutual funds. I have published in journals such as Business & Society, Ecological Economics, Journal of Banking and Finance, Quantitative Finance, Journal of Business Ethics, and European Financial Management. Additionally, I have coordinated two research projects funded by FCT (exceeding 120 000 euros) and co-coordinated another one. I have actively served as an associate editor of the European Journal of Finance (since 2003) and I have been a member of the scientific committee for various international finance conferences. My teaching focuses on finance courses at the undergraduate, master's, and Ph.D. levels, having supervised four Ph.D. students and over 60 master's students. In addition, I have held various leadership positions in the School, serving as Director of the Ph.D. in Business Administration, Director of the Management Department, and Director of the Master’s in Finance and the Master’s in Management. Currently, I lead the School Council as its President. My dedication has been recognized with awards for both teaching and research at both departmental and school levels. Beyond research and teaching, I have participated in evaluation panels for doctoral fellowships and grants under FCT, ensuring high standards for aspiring researchers in Management. Additionally, I have regularly served as a member of External Evaluation Committees for Management and Finance programs at the Portuguese Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES), contributing to improving academic programs.
