Letícia Gomes is currently undertaking a PhD in the Doctoral Program in Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems Engineering at ISEP. She holds a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from the School of Engineering of the Polytechnic of Porto (ISEP). Her Master’s thesis, titled “Multi-Agent Framework for Explainable and Context-Aware Forecasting with Reinforcement Learning and Dynamic Retraining in Smart Buildings,” was awarded a final grade of 19 out of 20. Her doctoral research, entitled DREAMS — Dynamic stRategy sElection with explainAble Meta-learning for energy management Systems, focuses on the development of adaptive and explainable decision-making frameworks for energy systems. She is a researcher in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Energy Systems at GECAD, with expertise in Machine Learning (ML), knowledge-based approaches, and Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI). Her work integrates concepts from Power and Energy Systems, supporting the design of intelligent, context-aware, and transparent energy management solutions. She has contributed to scientific dissemination through the publication of a book chapter, the authorship of conference papers, and co-authorship of a journal article and conference papers. She has also contributed as a reviewer for WCCI and participated in the organization of a scientific event. In addition, she has been involved in several national and international research projects, including PRECISE, TioCPS, MIKADO, NGS, TradeRes, PROSeCO, and Energy P2P. Her work within these projects focuses on the development of intelligent and adaptive solutions for energy systems. In particular, the MIKADO project is closely aligned with her doctoral research objectives, supporting the development of meta-learning mechanisms for the selection and adaptation of decision-making strategies, integrating contextual awareness and explainability within the learning process. Within the Energy P2P project, she contributes to the development of a community-based energy management platform for an industrial partner, supported by advanced coordination and optimization mechanisms. Her research is centered within the field of Engineering Sciences and Technologies, with a focus on Electrotechnical, Electronic, and Computer Engineering, particularly in the areas of automation, control systems, and intelligent energy management systems.
