I am a Biologist with PhD on Marine Biology with emphasis on Ecotoxicolgy. I am Risk Assessor credited by EFSA (European Food Safety Authority), where I participated in a one-year training in the EU-FORA Program (European Food Risk Assessment). I have 15 years of experience on Environmental Risk Assessment and on the last five years I am working on Chemical Food Risk and Quality Assurance of Seafood. I already worked in too many segments: academy, private companies, ONGS and Governmental entities. Today I am working as independent consultant in my own company called Fresh Water Farms Europe. Paralleled, I am Business Development & International Sales at Fresh Water Farm giving scientific advice on Aquaponic production. I am considering an entrepreneur scientist with a lot of motivation to transform and contribute for a better world, giving my knowledge and experience to help to improve the people life quality. Since 2022, I am working in my life project Fresh Water Farms Europe that was born since pandemic times, when my partner Mark Wishart challenged me to help him to dissolve problems with his Aquaponics systems, namely with the fishes high mortality. Since that, we started these journey, each one dealing with our owns local challenges, he with his scaling process of aquaponics urban farms from Savanah (Georgia) to Missouri (USA) and me dealing with European competitive barriers to implement our European unit of aquaponic farms and promote the technological transference of American technology. Since 2021, FWF EU are participating in several entrepreneurial events (courses, induction training, accelerations, startups challenges) and doing networking. Our project already won a prize in Switzerland inside the NTN Innovation booster for decarbonization, organized by European Living Labs and sponsored by Innosuisse. We also participated in several startups acceleration programs, and since 2023, we are focused in fundraise sources to implement our first Portuguese aquaponic urban farm dedicated to commercial purposes. Our last projects NTN Booster, Aqualliance (EIT Food), Aquaponics 4.0 (Future 17 program) and also for Horizon Europe are our contribution for the society as entrepreneurial food safety scientist.
