Ana Isabel Oliveira Silva is a PhD student in Biomedicine and Health Sciences. She is graduated in Biology and Geology at the University of Minho, and holds a Master's degree in Applied Biochemistry, with specialization in Biomedicine, in the same University. During the last five years, she was a researcher at the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS), University of Minho, in which she developed her master's thesis and is currently developing her PhD project, both focused on unraveling new treatment options for aggressive cancers using metabolism-targeted approaches and the new chromene-based compounds. Over the years, Ana has acquired expertise in cell and molecular biology research approaches. She is strongly trained in cell culture methods and has expertise in several in vitro techniques and biological functional assays. Additionally, she acquired expertise in ex vivo assays, as she frequently uses the CAM model for evaluating tumor growth and angiogenic capabilities. Ana is licenced for animal experimentation by the Portuguese government after completing an Laboratory Animal Science course with both theoretical and practical training . She was awarded a PhD scholarship in 2022 funded by FCT, which she is currently finishing.
