Paulo Ricardo Oliveira Pinto graduated in Biology by the University of Porto, Faculty of Science (FCUP 2019) where he started his scientific career, working with plant tissue culture and phytopathology, focusing on the Kiwi-Psa pathosystem, at Professor Conceição Santos Laboratory (iB2) (https://www.ib2lab.com/) (BSc. intern report). Afterward, he got a Masters degree in Functional Biology and Plant Biotechnology by the Faculty of Science, University of Porto (FCUP, 2022) performing his Dissertation at iB2 Lab, integrated in the EOIS-CropProt project, studying the potential of Satureja montana essential oils as biocontrol tools against Xanthomonas euvesicatoria in tomato, where he used molecular, physiological and analytical chemistry techniques. In parallel, Paulo worked in several projects, namley GESPSA-KIWI, studying the impact of photoselective nets in kiwifruits photosynthetic battery. He also worked with apple codling moth, understanding the occurence of this insect in portuguese apple orchards. In the mean time he complemented his educational curriculum by studying python-based bioinformatics, in the Department of Computer Sciente of FCUP (2022). Currently Paulo has a scholarship for working in the improvement of Blueberry yeld and stress tolerance (using mycorrhizae) and controlling Drosophila suzukii with photoselective nets. This work is integrated in the STOP.SUZUKII project. Paulo is an integrated member of the Associated Laboratory LAQV-REQUIMTE in the (Bio)Chemistry & Omics group since 2018. Paulo has published 4 scientific articles in WoS index journals, among them he has 3 as a first author, and 1 as the correspondence author. He also participated in 7 scientific conferences/workshops as an invited speaker and has 10 oral/panel presentations in National/International conferences.
