Rose Marie Sousa is a researcher of Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto (FCUP), Portugal, since 2019 and a member of the research centers GreenUPorto (Centro de Investigação em Produção Agroalimentar Sustentável, since 2019) and CITAB (Centro de Investigação e de Tecnologias Agro-Ambientais e Biologicas, since 2008). She obtained a Ph.D. in Sciences-domain of Biology (2016), and a M.Sc. in Biotechnology and Bioentrepreneurship of Aromatic and Medicinal Plants (2009) from University of Minho, School of Sciences (Portugal). She works in the area(s) of Agrarian Sciences more specifically Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries with emphasis on Plant Breeding, and Plant Protection, as well as Natural sciences, Biological Sciences with emphasis on Plant sciences. Her investigation is focused on the application of botanical-based bioactive products for the control of disease and agricultural pests, and evaluating the plant protection effect triggered by the application of botanical pesticides formulations using omics approach. She has collaborated in 4 research projects and was a member of the organizing committee of 3 events. She worked together with more than 32 researchers, published 14 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 2 book chapters, 2 proceedings, and presented 24 communications in international and national meetings (15 posters and 9 oral presentations). In 2007, she had a previous role as lecturer of Botany and Applied plant biology (graduation) and Plant bio-products and biotechnology (postgraduation) at University of Minho (Biology department). In 2020, she worked as a teacher at FCUP giving classes of Plant Biotechnology in Agriculture (Agricultural Engineering postgraduation). She supervised/co-supervised 4 B.Sc., 5 M.Sc., and 1 Ph.D. students´dissertations at UMinho and UTAD. In 2022 she integrated the editorial board of the open access Journal of Natural Pesticide Research and served as a gest editor of a special issue in the journal Horticulturae. In 2019, she was awarded with the 1rst prize in Food Innovation by the UTAD, for a business plan and prototype developed with a team of researcher from CITAB.
