Bernardo Palmeirim is an Assistant Professor in American Studies at the School of Arts & Humanities of the University of Lisbon and a researcher at ULICES (ULisbon Center for English Studies). Bernardo teaches Post-WW2 American Literature, 20-21st c. US History and Culture, 20-21st c. Music History, Culture Industries in the USA, and Creative Writing in English. He has coordinated English Language Teaching at the English Studies Department. He holds a PhD in Theory of Literature (ULisbon) titled "What is Poetic Attention" (2014). His research interests include American short forms (poetry, short stories, songs), attention studies, theory of literature, music, philosophies of language and religion. He is also the band leader of NOZ ("NOZ2", 2015; "Powehi", 2022), and a songwriter with extensive music collaborations, including an awarded spoken-word research project. His latest spoken-word song project is "4 American Women Poets".
