Carolina completed her degree in Biotechnology at the University of Beira Interior, Covilhã, Portugal, in 2020 and her Master in Biochemistry, at the same institution, in 2022. During her master's degree, she was a scholarship researcher in the project BI_ED_TCapitataBV, a project which aimed to further develop a novel antimicrobial agent based on Thymbra capitata essential oils against bacterial vaginosis, at the Centro de Investigação em Ciências da Saúde (CICS-UBI), Covilhã, Portugal. She is currently a student of a non-degree course of initiation to research at the University of Beira Interior, Covilhã, Portugal. She is also a scholarship holder of the project Aquae Vitae - Thermal Water as a Source of Life and Health, in which she studies the bioactivities of the combination of thermal water with natural-based bioactive compounds and/or agroindustrial residues, with a view to their application in the skin in the form of cosmetic products. Her main research interests are cell culture, studying the bioactive potential of aromatic and medicinal plants.
