Afonso Bispo Certo is a PhD student and researcher in robot task planning at SocRob@Home (ISR/LARSyS, Instituto Superior Técnico), where he focuses on the use of Large Language Models (LLMs) to generate action sequences from natural language commands. He holds a Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, where he completed his thesis on end-to-end task planning from voice transcriptions, receiving a final grade of 19. He developed speech and semantic mapping modules for RoboCup@Home, contributing to 2nd and 3rd place finishes in 2023 and 2024, including the Best GPSR Award. He is the first author of a paper accepted to IROS on LLM-based planning. He also received the Joy in Motion award from Critical TechWorks for a project supporting blind pedestrians. He is active in open-source contributions, mentoring, and scouting leadership.
